The Swatch Bellamy with its integrated NFC payments function was a natural addition to the Swiss watchmaker’s line-up, according to creative director Carlo Giordanetti.
“People have really understood the added value of having a stylish and easy-going accessory, allowing them to settle all kinds of purchases with a simple gesture,” he explains in this Q&A with What’s New in Payments editor Rian Boden.
Giordanetti also discusses why the company chose to launch Swatch Bellamy in China, illuminates some of the challenges which it faced in adding NFC payments to the watch and expands on customer reaction to the product.
He then reveals the company’s plans to launch a second generation Swatch Bellamy and reflects on the future for the wearable payments market in general.
